DIY baby shower on a dime!

This past weekend I hosted a baby shower for a sweet friend of mine. She is the most beautiful girl, inside and out. She is a strong mother who has quiet a story to tell. I was excited to share this special day with her.
I wanted to share with you how I put together this party start to finish in case you are hosting and need some ideas!

Luckily Rachel agreed to let me take her maternity photographs so that I could design my own invitation. This was really fun and I loved the practice! Here are a few of my favorites...

Isn't she lovely?
Next I designed the invitation. Want to use this template for yourself? GO HERE

And for the shower, I served turquoise ombre frosted cupcakes, creamy broccoli medley soup and French bread.

By using white dishes mixed with turquoise thrifted dishes I was able to decorate with the theme colors of my DIY yarn tassel. I wanted the party to be turquoise with touches of purple, gold and white. I went to Joanne's craft store and found the gold shimmer fabric on a clearance rack for
2$/yard. I also found the gold foil cupcake tins there. The gold striped straws are from Walmart and I purchased turquoise nail polish as party favors since she is having a girl. Wrapping them in tulle dressed them up a bit.

I found this template on pinterest we used for a fun game during the shower. I had each person read their well wishes for baby to Rachel. Feel free to save this to your picture library and print for your own party.

This darling tassel was so easy to make and didn't cost me a penny! GO HERE to see how I made it.

I hope you feel inspired to host your own baby shower, you don't always have to spend a fortune to plan a party.

  1. OMG!! What a lovely baby shower. Enjoyed going through the pictures. Have never arranged any such event but planning to throw a surprise baby shower to my sister at one of Seattle venues. It will be really fun to make her day memorable.
